At Aldercourt, our focus is on quality teaching and learning. Our students will proudly tell you they come to school to learn !
Established in September 1971, Aldercourt Primary School is located in Frankston North and is in close proximity to the unique Pines Flora and Fauna Bushland Reserve. The school caters for children from the large diverse communities of Frankston North, Carrum Downs and surrounding areas. The school has an enrolment of approximately 220 students that fluctuates according to mobility. Monterey Secondary College is our closest Secondary College.
We take great pride in promoting our wonderful school. Aldercourt is a friendly and welcoming school which offers many opportunities for the children in our care. Aldercourt has spacious treed grounds with extensive playground equipment. Visitors comment on the creative art work on display around the school. Understanding and supportive staff, operate exciting, well planned programs with Literacy and Mathematics as the highest priorities. All of our teaching and support staff have undertaken training in the THRASS Program. Our classroom upgrade focuses on spacious, light and airy classrooms with interactive whiteboards which complement the school's computer program.
Innovative programs enrich and motivate our children to develop skills which enhance their learning ability. These include a Gifted and Talented, Maori Cultural/L.O.T.E., Art, Computer and Phys. Ed programs. We also offer music instrumental instruction. Themed activity days and the School Production celebrate and highlight student learning at Aldercourt.
Our highly regarded Learning Support Centre helps students who need additonal support in learning to read and write. Trained Ardoch volunteers and our school nurse provide children with a little extra TLC!
The students' educational interests are the basis for all decision-making. Open two-way communication exists between the home and the school. Staff members are committed to continuing their professional development and displaying a high level of professionalism.
We nurture a safe learning and play environment through our new social skills program. A fair and consistent student management program supported by Restorative Practices, is aimed at encouraging children to respect themselves and others and in developing trust between the school, students and parents.
We have an excellent student leadership program which provides all our students with a voice in the decision making process. Often our student leaders will conduct surveys with all students and discuss issues with staff in a collaborative way to find real solutions to existing challenges. This provides our students with ownership of decisions as well as providing them with a safe and happy environment to learn and play in.
A healthy lifestyle is promoted through 'Go For Your Life' endorsed canteen, fruit and water breaks, tennis, lunchtime and after school activity programs. The free playgroup offers organised fun activities which focus on areas that are vital for children's development. Along with our Kinder to School Transition Program we ensure the happiest and best start possible to children's education.
A breakfast program operates every morning. We are grateful for the sponsorship of Bay City Holden in Frankston.
Successful fundraising has a significant impact on the provision of programs and facilities in the school.
We love to show our school off - come for a visit! |
